One way to find out if children understand the literature is to have them retell a story or chapter. Watch the video to find out how to use Power Point to animate stories.

It would make them think about setting, characters, plot, etc. and help give them a visual.

I definitely will make some of my own to share stories with my students.

I don't think I can have my students make them simply because of time constraints.

They could review and repeat as necessary, like having the teacher there with them whenever they needed to go over it again.

No I will not.
Why or why not?
Simply because I don't teach math.
Consider inviting your students to make a math video. How would that help them understand the concepts?
They would have to be able to explain what they are doing. We tell our students to show their work all the time, but that would truly raise the bar on expectations for showing work.
How could this concept be utilized in other classrooms/subjects?
In music I could use this to help students understand where to find the various parts of a song (meter, key signature, solfege, etc.). They could then review that information at home even if they were not in the middle of music class. Having them label song parts in a video might also be a good way to assess them.
